Making a difference one stray at a time, with Dean Morris and GOSAC

In this week’s episode, Josh is talking to Dean Morris who was a Finalist in the 2019 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards for Western Australia.

My name Is Dean Morris, I am 17 years old.

Over six years ago, I started a campaign called GOSAC which stands for Give Our Strays A Chance. It is about raising awareness of adopting and donating to animal shelters.

I am raising donations for animal rescue groups in Perth and GOSAC has truly made a difference.

Many poor strays have been saved and thousands of dollars were raised to pay for vet, food, beds etc. GOSAC really saves lives!

During COVID-19, I partnered with ARC and Petbarn Foundation to work on “Act Of Kindness”, helping struggling families feed their pets. I also help homeless people and families at risk with pet supplies. Keeping families together!

During crisis’s, I help collect medical supplies to treat wild life injured by bushfires.

In this episode:

  • We hear how committed Dean was at just 10 years of age to create GOSAC (Give our Strays a Chance) and spread his message.
  • Dean’s motto that he wants to share is: “Adopt, don’t Shop”
  • We learn that it’s not just cats and dogs that get to be re-homed
