The Queensland Family and Child Commission (the Commission) exists to ensure Queensland’s children and young people are loved, respected and have their rights upheld.

We are charged with responsibility to review and improve the systems that protect and safeguard our children, and to influence change that improves the safety and wellbeing of Queensland’s children and families. We do this by producing rigorous analysis and evidence-based advice to strengthen systems, and by connecting and collaborating with others to advance children’s rights, safety and wellbeing.
We work to increase opportunities for children and families to influence decisions that affect their lives, and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children to grow up strong in their identity, culture, and community, free from systemic racism and discrimination.

Our work includes ensuring Queensland organisations meet their obligations to safeguard children and prevent abuse. As of 1 October 2025, the Commission will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the operation of the Child Safe Organisations system under the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024.
