Category 1: Most Outstanding New Project

Mandatory Criteria

An award for projects that commenced operation between 1 July 2014 and 30 June 2016. Projects must have provided community work placement for offenders or prisoners for a minimum period of three months prior to the 30 June 2016.

Sites that have been reactivated during the last 12 months, after being previously inactive for at least two years, can also be nominated as 'new' sites provided that they meet the three-month minimum period of operation within the last financial year.

Failure to meet these criteria will result in the nomination being deemed ineligible.

Category 2: Initiative with Local Council, Shires or Utilities

Mandatory Criteria

An award recognising partnerships between local councils, shires or utilities and Corrections Victoria that are providing community work placement opportunities for offenders or prisoners.  

Failure to meet these criteria will result in the nomination being deemed ineligible.

Category 3: Educational Institution/Educational Programs

Mandatory Criteria

An award recognising partnerships that facilitate programs between a school, other educational institution or Registered Training Organisation and Corrections Victoria, or program providers, agencies or individuals who positively contribute to the development of skills and awareness of offenders and prisoners.

Failure to meet these criteria will result in the nomination being deemed ineligible.

Category 4: Environmental Sustainability Projects

Mandatory Criteria

An award acknowledging the environmental project work contributing towards sustainability, conducted by offenders or prisoners in partnership with the community or other agencies.

Failure to meet these criteria will result in the nomination being deemed ineligible.

Category 5: Projects Involving Diversity, Indigenous, or Age of Offenders or Prisoners

Mandatory Criteria

An award acknowledging projects which, within the structure of the activity, specifically recognise minority groups in the offender or prisoner population, including those who are Aboriginal, young or aged, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD), have a disability, are young or female.

Failure to meet these criteria will result in the nomination being deemed ineligible.

Category 6: Supervisor Award

Mandatory Criteria

An award recognising excellence and continued commitment by a person or team of people not employed as Corrections Victoria staff, who have supervised offenders or prisoners performing community work for at least six months in the last two financial years (1 July 2014 - 30 July 2016). This may include a paid contractor operating as a supervisor demonstrating exceptional performance.

The person must have been working with, or within the Prison or CCS location for a minimum of six months during the last two financial years (1 July 2014 - 30 July 2016)

Failure to meet these criteria will result in the nomination being deemed ineligible.

Category 7: Field Officer or other Staff Member Award

Mandatory Criteria

An award recognising individual Corrections Victoria staff, staff at a location or prison, or staff within a region, who showed outstanding achievement in community work initiatives and in fostering community work partnerships in the community.  This award is named after the late Peter Lindsay, as a tribute to his achievements as a staff member actively working in the community.

The person must have been working with, or within the Prison or CCS location for a minimum of six months during the last two financial years (1 July 2014 - 30 June 2016). 

Failure to meet these criteria will result in the nomination being deemed ineligible.

Category 8: Most Outstanding Location Based Project (CCS Location or Prison)

Mandatory Criteria

An award recognising projects to the benefit of the community, with a defined community partner, conducted at a Community Correctional Services location or Prison during the last two financial years (1 July 2014 - 30 June 2016).

Failure to meet these criteria will result in the nomination being deemed ineligible.

Category 9: Best Ongoing Partnership

Mandatory Criteria

An award recognising partnerships that have operated successfully for over 12 months as at 30 June 2016 and continue to deliver positive outcomes for either group, or individual offender/prisoner placements for community work.

At least one partner must have been with the project for over 12 months.

Failure to meet these criteria will result in the nomination being deemed ineligible.

 


The following awards cannot be nominated for, but are determined from all nominations submitted in Categories 1 to 9:

Category 10: Best in Region Award
Introduced in the 2010 Community Work Partnership Awards, the Best in Region Award recognises the eight Department of Justice regions. In the normal course of the judging process, each nomination receives points from the judges. In this category, all nominations received, no matter in which category, will be grouped according to their Department of Justice region and the judging points allocated to each nomination aggregated to establish the highest score. The winner in each region will be so determined, resulting in eight winners, one for each region.


Category 11: Commissioner’s Award
Introduced in the 2006 Community Work Partnership Awards, the Commissioner’s Award recognises an outstanding partnership between a Prison or CCS location and a community agency or individual. The Commissioner, Corrections Victoria selects the recipient of this award from the winners of awards in categories 1 to 9.


Category 12: Minister’s Award 
Introduced in 2012 the theme of the Award is determined each year by the Minister for Corrections, who also selects the recipient from the total pool of nominations submitted which have not received any other awards.
