Anthea Halliday, State Marketing Manager WA, SA and NT, Woolworths Supermarkets presented Country Women’s Association – Ord Valley Branch with the Woolworths Community Group of the Year Award
The 2021 WA Community Achievement Awards Presentation Gala celebrating all things regional and rural Western Australia has to offer took place in Perth, October 15th. We had a chat with the 2021 Woolworths Community Group of the Year Winner Country Women’s Association – Ord Valley Branch, Gina.
“We were surprised when we won and to this day still don’t know who nominated us!”
When Gina and the other members of the CWA – Ord Valley branch were nominated, a buzz could be sensed by all. With each announcement of Semi-Finalist to Finalist and eventually Winner; the excitement could barely be contained. “After the acceptance speech, Georgina and Frances rang me squealing we won. I texted everybody and we did a champagne toast the next week.”
The group was thrilled when they made it to the finals. But saw the benefits of nominating earlier. As Semi-Finalists The CWA – Ord Valley Branch received notes on their submission. “It meant a lot to receive the judges’ feedback and we were able to validate our efforts.” Gina noted; “everyone wanted to know why we won and I was able to tell them.”
The Community Achievement Awards are delighted to have helped celebrate and encourage the work put in by the members of Country Women’s Association who achieve so much while building friendships and strong community connections.
Gina admitted that the group didn’t really do things like this before in the past but the team at Awards Australia were a pleasure to work with.
A special thank you to Woolworths for their continued partnership with Community Achievement Awards.
If you know an outstanding Community Group who make your community thrive; nominate them now!
