7NEWS Young Achiever Awards WA
Message of Support
Youth awards have an important role – celebrating the positive contributions that young people make to Western Australia.
All around WA, young people are engaging their communities in a variety of ways, including: through art, dance and music events; as sports coaches; as youth leaders; through emergency response volunteer work; caring for older people; mentoring other young people; and through various educational workshops.
I think it’s important to celebrate our young people; to acknowledge their achievements, skills and aspirations, and to deepen our understanding, acceptance and support of who they are and what they represent for our collective future.
Awards such as WA Young Achievers gives us a mechanism to showcase their talents and highlight the many positive roles they play in their local communities.
I have had the pleasure of attending and participating in these awards for the last two years. I continue to be impressed with the achievements of all the young people nominated and want to especially congratulate the winners for being selected out of such a high achieving field of candidates.
